Romania’s households are considered to be wealthier in real terms than those from Bulgaria, Croatia and Hungary, with 68 percent of European Union average in terms of Actual Individual Consumption (AIC), fresh Eurostat data show, according to Business-Review.eu.
In 2017, Romania recorded the fourth-lowest AIC level in EU, after Bulgaria (54 percent of EU average), Croatia (62 percent), Hungary (62 percent), and was at the same level with Latvia (68 percent).
However, Romania remains below Estonia (73 percent), Slovakia, Poland and Greece all 76 percent).

“Ten Member States recorded AIC per capita above the EU average in 2017. The highest level in the EU was recorded in Luxembourg, 32% above the EU average, ahead of Germany (22% above). They were followed by Austria, Denmark and the United Kingdom, which recorded levels around 15% and 20% above the EU average, and Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden and France with levels around 10% above the EU average,” Eurostat said.
