The Scottish Sun: Celtic fined £10,400 by UEFA after fans set off fireworks ahead of CFR Cluj clash

Celtic have been fined £10,400 by UEFA after fans set off fireworks during the Europa League clash with Cluj at Parkhead. The Hoops have been charged by the governing body after fans let off strobes during their pre-match displays, according to The Scottish Sun.

It’s the second this season the Scottish champions have been sanctioned by Uefa.

A statement read: “The UEFA control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) has announced the following decision:

“Charges against Celtic FC: Setting off of fireworks – Art.16 (2) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations.

“Decision: The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has decided to fine Celtic FC €12,000”.

Last month, they were fined £11,000 for crowd trouble during their 4-1 win at AIK.

It said: “Following the latest UEFA charge against the club for the use of fireworks at Celtic Park , it is with real disappointment and frustration that the club needs to appeal again for this behaviour to stop.

“UEFA’s stance on the issue of pyrotechnics is unequivocal and very well-known.

“The club has been sanctioned on numerous occasions and yet, very disappointingly, this behaviour by a small minority persists.

“Celtic will be introducing further measures in order to deal with this behaviour. It has to stop”.
