Authorities propose a tax of about RON 34 for 100 kilometres to be implemented on the Bucharest-Ploiesti highway as of 2019, so drivers would pay about RON 21 to travel the distance of 62 kilometres, says RomaniaJournal.ro.
The Government has adopted this week the grounding study for the design and construction of the Ploiesti-Brasov motorway, which will be implemented through a public-private partnership, capital.ro informs.
As some of the funds will come from the private sector, the traffic on this highway will be charged and the official document includes the first concrete proposals in this direction. The study proposes that the toll will be applied as early as next year, including on the Bucharest – Ploiesti section, already in operation.
Thus, the proposal is that the tax for cars is EUR 6.3 + VAT (about RON 34 at the current exchange rate) for every 100 kilometres. Given that the Bucharest – Ploiesti highway is 62 kilometres long, the tax on the use of this section would be about RON 21.
