Employers in Romania have posted over 22,000 job openings on eJobs.ro in the last month, some of them in preparation for the holiday season, when the volume of activities increases and they need to expand their teams. Including now, candidates have 21,000 open jobs available on eJobs.ro and another 5,000 on iajob.ro, both for Romania and abroad, according to Romania Journal.
Bucharest is the city with the most available positions at the moment, respectively 11,000, and the areas for which candidates are most needed are call – center / BPO, retail, services, food industry, tourism and transport / logistics. Here, the most sought after are entry level candidates (who have between 0 and 2 years of experience), those without any experience and, in third place, those in the mid – level segment, i.e. 2 – 5 years of experience.
“This is a period when the market doesn’t see as many managerial, senior, or highly experienced specialist positions, mainly because turnover among these categories is low. They tend to be much more stable in their jobs compared to other candidates, which means the need for replacement doesn’t arise as often. As the economy stabilizes and rebalances, we will start seeing them much more active in the labor market again,” says Roxana Drăghici, Head of Sales at eJobs, Romania’s largest online recruitment platform.
With 3,500 job openings, Cluj-Napoca is the second most active city in the country in terms of hiring. Employers in retail, the food industry, services, transport/logistics, tourism, and call center/BPO have the greatest demand for workers. In these sectors, the most sought-after candidates are those with minimal or no experience, as well as mid-level professionals.
Nearly as many job openings are available in Brașov, primarily in the food industry, services, tourism, retail, and call center/BPO sectors.
Another important recruitment hub is Iași, with 2,800 current job openings across services, the food industry, call center/BPO, transport/logistics, tourism, and retail. Over 2,000 positions are also currently available in Ilfov, Constanța, and Timișoara.
On the other hand, counties such as Mehedinți, Vrancea, Covasna, Caraș-Severin, and Teleorman have a much smaller job offer, limited to a few hundred openings.
“Large urban centers like Bucharest, Cluj, Timiș, and Iași attract the majority of white-collar jobs—that is, positions for candidates with higher education—in fields such as IT, call center/BPO, or finance and banking. Industrial counties like Brașov, Sibiu, Prahova, Dolj, or Arad, on the other hand, have a higher proportion of engineering and manufacturing jobs. Tourist counties (Brașov, Constanța) offer a constant supply of HoReCa jobs, with seasonal peaks in summer and winter, while Ilfov and the surrounding areas are engines for transport and logistics, thanks to the warehouses serving major cities,” explains Roxana Drăghici.
