The Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) promises a special edition in 2025, scheduled to take place June 13-22, featuring approximately 200 films, selected from over 1,000 cinematic productions by the team led by TIFF’s artistic director Mihai Chirilov, according to Act Media.
‘The team, led by Mihai Chirilov, watched a lot of films – I believe more than 1,000 – and they selected around 200 feature and short films, which you will see in the programme. We have 172 feature films and 28 short films from 53 countries. It’s a very diverse edition, with many surprises and films from all genres,’ TIFF director Tudor Giurgiu told a press conference on Tuesday.
He also announced that a highlight of the festival will be the Lifetime Achievement Award given to Hungarian director Béla Tarr, ‘one of the most important filmmakers, whose artistic imprint is unique and unmatched in the history of world cinema.’
Artistic director Mihai Chirilov also spoke about the ‘Romanian Film Days’ section of TIFF. This competition includes 8 feature films (6 of which are documentaries) and 20 short films, all vying for three main awards: Best Feature Film, Best Debut, and Best Short Film.
