
The previous daily record was registered on Tuesday, July 21, when the Romanian authorities reported 994 infections in 24 hours, according to Romania-Insider.com.
More than 1 million tests were performed in Romania so far, of which 24,877 in the last 24 hours.
A total of 24,663 patients were declared cured so far, and 2,693 asymptomatic patients were discharged ten days after the diagnosis, the same report said.
Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 2,101. A total of 27 deaths were reported between July 21 (10:00) and July 22 (10:00), in the age categories of 30-39 years (2 deaths), 40-49 years (one death), 50-59 years (3 deaths), 60-69 years (6 deaths), and 70-79 years (9 deaths), and 80+ years (6 deaths).
In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 5,179. Of these, 293 patients are treated in intensive care units.
