5,000 Kids from Sierra Leone Receives Bags from Romania

School going children from Romania have donated 5,000 School Bags to children in Sierra Leone. Briefing the Minister of Youth Affairs who happens to play host to the team, Albert Deak, a member of the Transilvania Sierra Leone said these donations were made as form of good-will gesture from kids in Romania, according to GlobalTimes-sl.com.

He explained that the bags contained a picture of the child that donated the bag, a letter/drawing, and an E-mail address written at the back of the letter, computers, phones, iPads, assorted school materials among others.

Albert Deak, who also partook in the Budapest-Bamako Trip, maintained that this move by these romanian children will help strengthen the Romania – Sierra Leone friendship. He continued that they are aware that the flagship program of the current government is free quality education, and they will do everything within their means to making it succeed and sustainable.

Welcoming members from the Transilvania Sierra Leone, Youth Minister Mohamed Orman Bangura said that the youth make up 75% of the country’s population and as a government, they want to lay premium on the empowerment of youths. As statistics indicate that among five people only one can read, which shows that there’s a challenge with education and said that these donations were timely and seeks to compliment the efforts of the government. Minister Bangura assured them that all the bags that were donated were untampered with. He said his greatest surprise was the kids testifying that monies were even discovered in some of the bags. Which sends a clear message that none of the bags were tampered with and this can build the trust between those Romanian kids and the Sierra Leonean’s.
