Ikea still waiting for approvals to open second Bucharest store, planning smaller shops in city centers

The procedures for opening the second IKEA store in Romania are not finalized at this time, as the Swedish retailer is still waiting for several permits. Meanwhile, it is planning to open smaller shops in city centers as well as several order pick-up points, according to Business-Review.eu.

”We have analyzed all the necessary business and sales indicators and we believe that Ikea Pallady will be a success. At the moment, we are focusing on getting the final approvals for the new store so we can meet our customers as soon as possible,” says Stefan Vanoverbeke, CEO of Ikea SEE, in an interview for Adevarul.

According to Vanoverbeke, Ikea plans to open smaller shops in city centers as well as several new order pick-up points. In the summer, the company launched its first online order collection points in Romania, Brasov, Timisoara and Cluj-Napoca. The second Ikea store was originally scheduled to be opened this autumn.
