Târgu-Mureș airport reopens after EUR 12 mln investments

Flights on Târgu-Mureș airport resumed after a RON 56 million (EUR 12 mln) investment project was completed. The financing was covered by state budget and county council funds, according to Romania-Insider.com.

The airport’s runway was rehabilitated allowing bigger planes to land and take off, a release of the Mureș county council said, according to Mediafax. Hence, the airport can be used by Airbus 320 planes and by larger aircraft.

The first flight from the airport was to Antalya (Turkey), operated by the Turkish air carrier Coredon Airlines. This flight will be operated on weekly basis until end-September.

Wizz Air will also resume flights on Târgu-Mureș airport this week to Dortmund and Memmingen. In addition, the airport management is discussing with all air carriers for diversifying destinations accessible from Târgu-Mureș.
