IBS Vice President appointed ambassador of the Historic Cafes Route for Moldova

The Vice President of the International Business Society (IBS), Aurelia Salicov, has taken on a new role. She has become the ambassador of the Historic Cafes Route for Moldova. The Historic Cafes Route is one of the official cultural routes of the Council of Europe.

The ceremony to award the ambassador’s certificate for Moldova took place in the city of Chania on the island of Crete, Greece, where this cultural route was born. The ambassador’s certificate was presented to her by the president of the Historic Cafes Route, Arnold Klingeis. In her new role, Aurelia Salicov will be responsible for proposing the inclusion of new members in the Historic Cafes Route and promoting historical, cultural, and gastronomic tourism.

“I believe Moldova has immense tourism potential. It has a fabulous historical heritage, such as the old center of Chișinău, Orheii Vechi, Manuc Bey’s castle in Hâncești, Mimi Castle, Căpriana Monastery, and many, many other monuments that we are all proud of. There is wine tourism, and wineries such as Cricova, Purcari, Gitana, and Domeniile Davidescu, to name but a few, can rival any winery in the world. There is gastronomic tourism, based on local culinary traditions, which highlights the unique synthesis of Western and Eastern flavours that delight our guests. That is why I gladly accepted the proposal to become an ambassador for this cultural route developed by the Council of Europe,” said Aurelia Salicov.

“Moldova’s inclusion in the Historic Cafes Route came naturally, following the organization of the Economic Forum in Chisinau. I promised His Royal Highness Prince Radu of Romania that I would achieve this inclusion in order to better connect Moldova to European cultural values. There are already historic cafes that are members of our route, and the appointment of Ms. Aurelia Salicov as ambassador will boost the development of our network,” said Arnold Klingeis, president of the Historic Cafes Route.

The Historic Cafes Route is one of 49 cultural routes developed by the Council of Europe to encourage the exchange of cultural values between European communities, promote tourism, and highlight European historical heritage. Cultural routes, including the Historic Cafes Route, have official status and are coordinated internationally by the Council of Europe Secretariat.
