This forest is filled with wrapped trees, their skeletal, twisted and spiralling trunks that look like they are contorting themselves to reach out and touch the person. No this is not a fictional novel or a film but Hoia-Baciu Forest, which is said to be one of the most haunted forests in the world, according to News18.com.
The forest is located in Transylvania, Romania near the city of Cluj-Napoca. The dense forest covers an area of approximately 250 hectares and is also often referred to as the Bermuda Triangle of Transylvania.
The forest known for its strange and unexplained phenomena is interestingly named after a shepherd who along with his 200 sheep went missing in the forest. But this is not why the forest is known as the most haunted. It was only after a military technician named Emil Barnea photographed what he claimed to be a UFO hovering over a particular patch of the forest and has also gained the attention of people from all around the world. The particular region of the forest is now called The Clearing.
In this particular part of the forest, nothing grows and all the plants and trees have just stopped growing around this oval patch in the ground.
It is also believed that the forest is haunted by the ghosts of people who died there including soldiers who fought in battles that took place in that area. Visitors have also reported seeing ghostly figures and hearing strange voices.
