EBA Moldova – European Business Association in Moldova set up in 2011, in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova (RM), founded by 10 of the biggest investors in the RM ( www.eba.md ) is a leading business support, policy and advocacy membership association, operating under the umbrella of the EU Delegation in the RM. EBA is a Member of the European Business Organisation World Wide Network operating under the auspicious of DG Growth, EU Commission. EBA is a strong community of approx. 100 members, local and international companies doing business in the RM.
The Current President of the EBA Moldova is Mr. Jose Luis Gomez Pascual, Country Manager of Premier Energy in Moldova.
The key objective of the association is to ensure EU Acquis legal harmonisation and bringing the best business practices thus enhancing the business climate of the RM and making more attractive for International and Local Investors. EBA Moldova is also about building dialogue platforms with Central public authorities in the RM, EU and international partners.
A special role and attention within EBA is given to the EU Candidacy Agenda of the RM with a special focus on reforms that is so important for the business community and country as a whole. In this context EBA Moldova is successfully sharing its best expertise in the area of Tax Policy, Labour, Competition, GDPR, Cyber, Green Policies and Renewables in order to support the Government and adjust the current legal framework in order to devise a compliant legalisation and ensure a proper implementation.
Therefore, EBA is also supporting the business community and the public sector with a range of upskill and capacity building sessions, especially on the new legal concepts, organising sharing of experience sessions on specific topics with other EU countries and bringing best EU Expertise in this regard.
During Covid and since the war in Ukraine, EBA has constantly been providing an individual support to its members and business community under the huge negative impact that so much affected the economy of the RM. A lot of cooperation and involvement was provided to unblock the logistic chains and support the members in trade reconfiguration process.
EBA goal is to build a community of strong businesses with a sustainable development so as to boost economic growth and increase the welfare in the country. To make it possible EBA is also involved in enhancing the capacities of regional SMEs and 6 Regional Business Support Organisations operating in the form of Business Hubs.
Over almost 12 years of its activity EBA has implemented cca 15 donor and members funded projects (EU, Sweden, USAID, GIZ, World Bank) aimed at:
- Harmonising and transposing the EU Acquis to local legal framework;
- Support to Central public authorities in developing new legal concept in the area of green economy, renewables, integrated system of wastes management, AML, Cyber, Financial management, Tax Policy, HR etc;
- Support in the implementation of Association agreement by supporting the SMEs in expanding exports to the EU market;
- Upskilling and enhancing the capacities of private entities, public sector employees and academia in new concepts of banking, financial management, cyber, taxation, legal matters like GDPR, commercial law, HR etc;
- Setting up regional Business Hubs aimed at providing business services to regional companies and develop and policy and advocacy agenda so as to represent the interests of regional companies at the national level;
Since 2011 EBA contributed with amendments to cca 500 legal acts of primary and secondary level thus sharing its best expertise world best practice. On a yearly basis EBA is performing cca 100 training/coaching sessions/sharing international expertise events and practical conferences for the private sector, public employees or Academia, these being delivered either with EBA or international donor’s support.
EBA has always build bridges and reliable dialogue with Public Partners, thus becoming an active member of various Public Private Dialogue platforms such as Prime Minister Economic Council, Tax Service Consultative Committee, Customs Service Consultative Committee, Ministry of Environment Working Groups, Ministry of Economy Working groups etc
EBA is about building a value added in boosting economic growth of the country by making the business climate more enabling and reliable. EBA is about support to business and bridging with pubic sector for common objectives striving altogether for a better life in Moldova and in Europe.
