Kurt Zouma already leaves CFR Cluj

Kurt Zouma’s Romanian adventure has proven to be short-lived. Having joined CFR Cluj last September, the 31-year-old centre-back has officially left the club, as confirmed by the Romanian side on its official website, according to Foot Africa.

After becoming a free agent following the end of his contract with West Ham last summer, the French international had signed with Cluj through June 2027. But after just a few months, both parties have reached an agreement to terminate their collaboration ahead of schedule.

For now, Kurt Zouma’s future remains uncertain. Having played for the likes of Chelsea and Stoke City, the experienced defender will now consider his options for the next chapter of his career.

Kurt Zouma’s journey began in Ligue 1 with Saint-Étienne, where he made his professional debut at just 16 years old. His rapid rise caught the eye of José Mourinho, leading to a high-profile move to Chelsea FC in 2014. At Stamford Bridge, Zouma quickly established himself as a “powerhouse” defender, combining explosive pace with an almost unparalleled aerial ability.

However, his trajectory was famously challenged in February 2016 by a devastating ACL injury. Many feared his career at the elite level was over, but Kurt Zouma’s subsequent seasons—including successful loan spells at Stoke City and Everton—proved his mental and physical fortitude.
