Tirana Post: In Romania you can pay for your bus ticket by doing squats

In Romania, you can pay for a bus ticket by doing 20 squats, of course if you’re a young girl or a young boy, while seniors and people with disabilities travel for free, according to Tirana Post.

In some Romanian cities, notably Cluj-Napoca, travelers can earn a free bus ticket by performing 20 squats.

As part of the city’s “Health Ticket” initiative, the system uses cameras and motion sensors to count and verify exercise within a short period of time. The program promotes daily physical activity while remaining inclusive, as elderly and disabled passengers continue to travel for free without having to participate in the initiative.

Air passenger transport grew by 8.2% in the first nine months of 2025
