Romania’s parcel locker infrastructure is expanding at its fastest pace yet, surpassing 10,000 active lockers nationwide, up 33% compared with 2024, according to fresh data from eAWB. The network now covers all 42 counties and reaches 940 localities, according to Money Buzz.
Bucharest remains the undisputed leader, hosting 1,941 lockers, followed by Ilfov (877), Cluj (700) and Timiș (501). At city level, the ranking mirrors the county distribution: Bucharest (1,941), Cluj-Napoca (383), Iași (265), Timișoara (230) and Constanța (214).
The rapid rise in locker adoption is driven by changing consumer expectations. Shoppers value the ability to collect parcels at any time, independently of courier schedules. Locker deliveries are also up to 25% cheaper on average than home delivery.
