Viarom Construct, Electrogrup to build Cluj-Napoca ring road section

Romania’s Cluj-Napoca city signed a 22.4 million euro ($24.5 million) contract with a tie-up comprising local companies Viarom Construct and Electrogrup for the construction of the first section of the city’s ring road, mayor Emil Boc said, according to SeeNews.com.

The design and construction works are scheduled to be completed within 20 months.

The first section of the ring road of the road will ensure connectivity between the city and the nearby commune of Floresti, with one lane in each direction to be dedicated to public transport and emergency services.

“At the same time, an underground pedestrian passage will be set up in the Metro hypermarket area, and to facilitate access to the Regional Emergency Hospital we will have an above-ground road passage,” Boc said.

A tender for the construction of the second section of the ring road worth an estimated 838 million euro has a deadline of September 25 for submitting offers.
