Romania’s Cluj-Napoca, TPP inaugurate 420 kWp solar park

The Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca and local thermal power plant Termoficare Napoca inaugurated a 420 kWp photovoltaic (PV) park worth 523,000 euro ($573,400), city mayor Emil Boc said. The solar plant can generate 492 MWh per year, which will meet about 30% of the consumption needs of the thermal power plant in the area and serve some 6,000 households, Boc said, according to SeeNews.com.

The 696 solar panels at the solar park will contribute to saving 75,000 euro in electricity costs per year. Funding for the project came from a Norwegian grant in the amount of 60%, while the remaining 40% was provided by Termoficare Napoca.

“We are also running a project financed by EEA and Norwegian funds to install such power plants on 4 more public buildings, with a power of 290kWp. We will soon receive a photovoltaic park with an estimated power of 990 kWp in the Cluj Innovation Park area,” Boc said.
