Travel Radar: Aeroexpress introduces route from Budapest to Cluj-Napoca

Hungary’s newest airline, Aeroexpress Regional, will launch its first services from the capital of Budapest to the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca starting from the 16th of December, according to Travel Radar.

The decision came after two months of servicing the flights in a trial mode in order for the company to observe all the details needed to launch the route officially.

Currently, only AirConnect operates on this route, but thanks to increasing demand, Aeroexpress plans to compete with the Romanian operator.

The new route linking Budapest to Cluj-Napoca is scheduled three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with an estimated flight time of 1 hour and 15 minutes.

The fleet of Embraer 120 will service the route, with 30 seats, designed for short-haul flights thanks to the aircraft’s efficiency. The route was initially meant to be officially introduced in March 2023, but high demand has convinced the airline to introduce it earlier than planned.

This flight is just the beginning of the story of Aeroexpress Regional. Dániel Somogyi-Tóth, the airline’s founder, claimed that they plan to expand around the Carpathian Basin to link the region shared between Hungary and Romania due to the poor road infrastructure.

Other plans include a route between Debrecen and Targu-Mures and other destinations linking the two countries.
