The TIFF public can also see Ildikó Enyedi’s The Story of My Wife and Gaspar Noé’s Vortex. Both films were screened at the 2021 Cannes film festival.
Ulrich Seidl’s Rimini will also be screened at TIFF, as will Fernando Léon de Aranoa’s The Good Boss, the winner of six Goya awards this year after receiving 20 nominations, a record-setting number. The film, starring Javier Bardem, won the Goya awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor, among others.
Audrey Diwan’s L’événement, the film for which French-Romanian actress Anamaria Vartolomei received the Most Promising Actress award at this year’s Cesar Awards, and Louis Garrel’s La Croisade will also be screened for the first time in the country at TIFF 2022.
A Chile-Colombia-Romania co-production, Clare Weiskopf and Nicolas van Hamelryck’s Alis is also part of the TIFF program. The documentary, which focuses on the story of ten young women who reside in a home for girls from the streets of Bogotá, won a Crystal Bear and the Teddy Award at this year’s Berlinale.
Mikhaël Hers’ new film, The Passengers of the Night, and Charlotte Gainsbourg’s Jane, offering a novel perspective of the mother-daughter relation as the filmmaker follows her mother, actress Jane Birkin, will be screened as well.
The program also includes Selman Nacar’s Between Two Dawns, presented at TIFF’s Transilvania Pitch Stop in 2018, and Michelangelo Frammartino’s Il buco.
