
The project was realized through the Regional Operational Program 2014-2020. The aim of the smart initiative is to reduce carbon emissions through investments based on sustainable urban mobility plan. The total value of the project is around 1.2 million Euro including VAT
The project includes the section between Fabricii de Zahăr and Dâmboviței streets and the intersection with Teleorman street. Cluj-Napoca City Hall is planning to implement such urban regeneration projects in all neighborhoods of the city, in accordance with its Integrated Urban Development Strategy.
Molnar Piuariu Street offers:
- 551 sqm green area, with 48 new trees planted (the 16 existing trees have been preserved) and irrigation system with sensors;
- modern pedestrian corridor, with prioritization of non-motorized transport (2662 sqm of exclusive pedestrian space and 1253 sqm of road surface);
- 4 parking spaces for electric cars and 15 parking spaces for other vehicles;
- 30 charging stations for electric bicycles/scooters and 22 parking spaces for bicycles;
- modern street furniture: benches, chairs, tables, bicycle parking frames, display systems, drinking fountains;
- Free Wi-Fi for locals and tourists and USB sockets for charging mobile devices;
- intelligent, energy-efficient public lighting, and festive and architectural lighting;
- improved rainwater collection system and sensor irrigation system.
