The price of apartments in the western Romania city of Cluj-Napoca recorded the highest national increase, of 10% in the first six months of this year, according to data from real estate portal Imobiliare.ro.
The average asking price for apartments available nationwide, both new and old, went up 6.7% in the first half of this year to reach EUR 1,120 per sqm, says Romania-Insider.com.
Apartments in Cluj-Napoca cost on average EUR 1,372 per sqm, compared with EUR 1,247 sqm at the beginning of the year and EUR 1,349 per sqm in May. In the first half of the year, the price of old apartments in the city grew by 9.6% to EUR 1,402 per sqm, while the price of new apartments went up 12.3% to EUR 1,330 per sqm.
The eastern Romania city of Iasi takes the second spot in the country on price increases, with a 9.6% growth in the price of apartments to EUR 936 per sqm. The price of old apartments grew by 5.9% to EUR 930 per sqm, while new ones were 13.8% more expensive at EUR 939 per sqm.
In Timisoara, apartment prices went up by 8.2% in the first half of the year, to an average price of EUR 1,111 per sqm. Timisoara is the only city where the price of old apartments was higher than that of new apartments. An old apartment had a price of EUR 1,113 per sqm, while a new one of EUR 1,102 per sqm.
