Two Romanian universities are ranked in this year’s QS World University Rankings by Subject in the Arts& Humanities area. The Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj is ranked in the 401-450 band, while the University of Bucharest is ranked in the 451 – 500 band, says Romania-Insider.com.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject ranks universities in individual subject areas. Starting with 2017, 46 subjects are covered. It is based on four performance indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations per paper, and the H-index, which measures the productivity and impact of the published work of a scientist or scholar. The rankings have several Broad Subject Areas: Arts & Humanities, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences & Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences.
The Babes-Bolyai University ranks in the 201 – 250 band (out of 300 ranked universities) in the Modern Languages subject, in the 251-300 band in the English Language and Literature subject (out of 300 ranked universities), in the 451-500 band in Chemistry (out of 500 ranked universities) and in the 351-400 band in Mathematics (out of 400 ranked universities).
The University of Bucharest ranks in the 151 -200 band in Linguistics (out of 300 ranked universities), in the 201 – 250 band in Modern Languages (out of 300 ranked universities), in the 251 – 300 band in English Language and Literature (out of 300 ranked universities), in the 301 – 350 band (out of 400 ranked universities) in Mathematics, in the 351 – 400 band (out of 400 ranked universities) in Economics & Econometrics, in the 401 – 450 band (out of 500 ranked universities) in Chemistry, in the 401 – 450 band (out of 500 ranked universities) in Social Sciences and Management, in the 401 – 450 band (out of 500 ranked universities) in Natural Sciences, in the 401 – 450 band (out of 500 ranked universities) in Physics and Astronomy.
The Polytechnics University in Bucharest also features in the rankings by broad subject areas. It ranks in the 451 – 500 band in Natural Science, in Engineering and Technology, and in Natural Science.
