Who is the New German Ambassador in Romania?

ambasador-germaniaCord Meier-Klodt is Germany’s new Ambassador to Romania starting January 9, 2017. He replaced Werner Hans Lauk, who decided to retire from diplomacy, and left Romania at the end of December.

Cord Meier-Klodt was born in 1953 in Hamburg. He is married and has three children, says Romania-Insider.com.

Before coming to Romania as Ambassador, he was the Special Representative of the German OSCE Chairman-in-Office for the Transdniestrian Settlement Process. Prior to that, in 2014-2015, Cord Meier-Klodt worked at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, being responsible for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia. Between 2011 and 2014, he was the deputy head of the mission at the New Delhi Embassy and, between 2008 and 2011, he was the head of the cultural department within the Embassy in London.
