Romania gets almost EUR 27 billion from the EU in ten years

Between January 2007 and November 30 last year, Romania received from the EU over EUR 40.5 billion as non-reimbursable EU funds, reports local Hotnews.ro. During this period, it contributed to the EU budget with EUR 13.6 billion.

Romania thus had net inflows of almost EUR 26.9 billion in ten years, according to data from the Public Finance Ministry.

The money was allocated in two programming periods, namely 2007-2013 and 2014-2020. Between 2007 and 2013, Romania received over EUR 37 billion. Of the total amount, EUR 2.7 billion represented pre-accession funds, whereas EUR 34.44 billion came from money allocated after the country joined the EU.

In the new programming period, Romania managed to get some EUR 3.48 billion.
