Romania: West Nile virus death reported in Ialomita, travel-associated Zika tally now at 3

For the first time in four years, Romanian health officials are reporting a West Nile virus related fatality, according to a local media report. The victim is a 79-year-old woman from Ialomita County with underlying health conditions, says OutBreakNewsToday.com.

In addition, the third travel-associated Zika virus case in a 36- year-old man who lives in Cluj-Napoca and traveled to the Dominican Republic between July 6 to July 13, according to a health ministry news release (computer translated).  He also traveled to the US from July 13 to July 20.“The woman was admitted to the hospital on July 28 with a complex pathology, and died a few days later,” Health Ministry spokesman Laurentiu Colintineanu said.
