Romania-Spain friendly football match will take place in Cluj-Napoca

cluj-arenaThe Romania-Spain friendly football match, scheduled for March 27, will no longer take place on the National Arena in Bucharest as the stadium doesn’t have the necessary safety permits. The match will instead be held at the Cluj Arena in Cluj-Napoca, according to Romania-Insider.com.

This comes after Bucharest also lost the chance to host the Snooker European Championship as well as the Romanian women’s tennis team’s FED Cup matches.

“We spoke with representatives of the Spanish national team, and they have agreed to this change of venue. The only problem is the lawn. Specialists will decide if it can hold two matches and four training sessions in such a short period,” said Răzvan Burleanu, president of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF), cited by local Digisport.

Romania has another friendly match against Lithuania, on March 23, which was also supposed to be played on the Cluj Arena. The Romanian Football Federation also considers moving this match to the CFR Cluj stadium or to Giurgiu.
