Banca Transilvania and Visa launch a BT Visa Platinum Debit card in lei for Premium Banking customers. The card is part of the Premium Club Current Account Subscription, also launched by BT, which means exclusive benefits and services when traveling, shopping, dining out, for insurance and leisure, accoring to Business Review.
Banca Transilvania, Romania’s largest bank, has recorded an impressive series of achievements and introduced significant innovations in the banking sector, consolidating its position as a market leader. According to financial reports, the bank has maintained sustained positive growth, reflected in asset and net profit increases.
Remarkable Financial Results
In the first three months of 2024, Banca Transilvania reported a consolidated net profit of 1.13 billion lei, up by 35% compared to the same period in 2023. The group’s assets reached 176 billion lei, and net loans increased to 77.1 billion lei. In Q1 2024, the bank’s net interest income was 28% higher than in the first quarter of 2023, while net fee and commission income increased by 18%.
Mergers and Acquisitions
Banca Transilvania continues to strengthen its position through strategic mergers and acquisitions. The integration process of OTP Bank Romania is ongoing, with the official merger scheduled for 28 February 2025. OTP Bank customers can already access BT’s products and services, and special “pair products” have been introduced as part of a welcome package.
Performance on the Capital Market
In 2024, Banca Transilvania maintained its growth in the capital market, with a consolidated net profit of 3.9 billion lei at the group level. The bank’s performance was also supported by organic growth, as well as acquisitions. BT has continued to invest in expanding its loan portfolio and increasing the number of clients.
