One of the most important elements of Romania’s tourism brand is the Royal Family. That’s why the Royal Castle of Peleș, the place where Romania’s Throne is located, is the most visited tourist attraction in Romania. In this context, Simona Elena Bartiș, founder of Dor Travel Agency, had the idea to propose the concept of Romanian Royal Journeys.
“We had the pleasure to present this idea to Her Majesty Margareta, Romanian Crown Custodian, and to His Royal Highness Prince Consort Radu of Romania, during a meeting organized on the Royal Estate of Săvârșin. I was happy to see that the Royal Family of Romania encouraged me in this endeavour. This is because the Royal Family of Romania enjoys immense prestige and popularity in Romania and the Republic of Moldova”, said Simona Elena Bartiș.
Through Romanian Royal Journeys, local and foreign tourists are invited to discover some of the most beautiful places linked to the history of the Royal Family of Romania.
Of course, the most important one is the Peleș Domain. It was chosen by the founder of the Dynasty, King Carol I, to be the defining place of Romanian royalty. The castle, built in the 19th century, is one of the most beautiful in Romania and houses one of the most interesting collections of art and weapons in this part of the world. On the Peleș Domain there is also Pelișor Castle, Queen Maria of Romania’s beloved place and also the place where her heart is kept.
There are also other beautiful buildings on the Royal Domain, which can be visited by tourists, where they can dine or stay overnight.
Royal trips should also include the Royal Palace in Bucharest, which today houses the National Art Museum and where many Royal Family ceremonies are held, the Cotroceni Palace, which was loved by King Ferdinand I and which, as well as being home to a temporary public institution, also has an interesting museum. Elisabeta Palace in Bucharest, built by King Charles II for his sister, Queen Elisabeta of Greece is also a royal building to see. Her Majesty’s House is in this palace which is open to the public.
Tourists can also visit the Royal Estate at Săvârșin, with two museums, a Tea House and a beautiful park, as well as the Royal Necropolis at Curtea de Argeș, where Romania’s kings and queens are buried. Do not miss the Coronation Cathedral in Alba Iulia or the places in Chișinău linked to the Royal Family’s history, such as the Metropolitan Cathedral or the Country Council building where the Union of Bessarabia with the Kingdom of Romania was voted.
