Gülermak signed a railway contract in Romania

Romanian Railway Administration CFR announced that it has signed an international agreement for the electrification and modernization of railway infrastructure, as well as a contract worth 430m euros, according to RaillyNews.com.

CFR said in its press release that the contract has a duration of 36 months in the design phase and 42 months in the implementation phase. The consortium includes Spanish construction company FCC Construccion, Gülermak from Turkey and CCN of France.

After the works, passenger and freight trains will support travel speeds of up to 52,74 km/h and 160 km/h, respectively, on the 120 km long railway segment between Poieni and Alesd. The contract covers part of the 166,2 km long Cluj Napoca-Oradea-Episcopia Bihor-Frontiera railway line.

Within the scope of the contract, modernization works will be carried out in many train stations, stops, bridges and tunnels. In addition, automatic signaling systems will be applied at road crossings along the railway. Funding comes from non-refundable funds under the EU-backed National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
