Nana Boateng makes quick injury return to help CFR Cluj qualify for UEFA Conference League

Ghana defender Nana Boateng has made a return from injury to help CFR Cluj qualify for the UEFA Conference League after beating Maribor 1-0 at home, according to GhanaSoccerNet.com.

The 28-year-old sustained an injury against Maribor in the first leg of the qualifiers and was replaced by Karlo Muhar.

After the game CFR Cluj coach, Dan Petrescu, hinted that the Ghanaian defender may be ruled out for several weeks ahead of the second leg.

However, Nana Boateng miraculously recovered on time to play the game which was earlier confirmed by CFR Cluj president Cristi Balaj in an interview on “Ora Exactă în Sport.

“In 16 years of refereeing in League 1, I have not seen a player at Boateng’s level in Romania. He can perform at a high level, in the Champions League groups. Probably the state of fatigue also determined that injury. The person from Serbia who was attended by several footballers from Romania has very good results. He has been training side by side with his teammates for two days, we hope he will last”, he added.
