Dinu Bumbăcea, new country leader of PwC in Romania

Big Four accountancy and consultancy giant PwC has appointed a new country managing partner for Romania. Taking over at the helm on 1 July 2021 is Dinu Bumbăcea, who will succeed Ionut Simion, who led PwC in Romania for the past six years and will continue his 20-year career at the firm as a partner. Bumbăcea leads a team of over 800 accountants, auditors, advisors, tax experts and consultants, including a 21-strong partner team, according to Consultancy.eu.

Bumbăcea brings nearly three decades of experience in professional services to the role, around 20 of which gained at PwC across two spells. After starting his career at the firm and rising the ranks to partner, he left PwC to work for rivals KPMG (partner in its Management Consulting practice) and Deloitte (Managing Partner of Deloitte Consulting).

He re-joined PwC at the start of 2020, using the past year to convince the partner team of his leadership. “I’m happy to take over the management of the company where I started my career 28 years ago,” Bumbăcea said.

Speaking of his priorities, he said: “We’ll continue to work with our clients offering value-added services; with our colleagues, building high-performance and motivated teams; and, last but not least, with the communities in which we live and work.”

The appointment sees PwC install a consultant at its reins. Bumbăcea has extensive experience in deal services (including vendor due diligence, commercial, financial and IT due diligence) and management consulting services (including market and feasibility studies, business process re-engineering, lean management, finance function transformation, and system implementations).
