Online bookstore Libris.ro has seen a 27% y-o-y increase in the number of books ordered during the seven months of the year, which coincided with the social distancing requirements and the summer holidays, according to Romania-Insider.com.
Most of the books were ordered from Bucharest, Timişoara, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi, and Braşov. The value of the average order went up 15% during this period, to reach almost RON 100 (EUR 20.6).
Among the best-selling books at Libris.ro were the titles accompanied by reviews, especially in the case of fiction, well-known foreign contemporary authors, and inspirational local stories, as was the case with Romanian endurance runner Tibi Uşeriu’s volume 27 de paşi (27 steps).
Second on the list of the best sold titled during May-July is Michel Faber’s The Book of Strange New Things. It is followed by John Boyne’s The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Delia Owens’ Where the Crawdads Sing, Kevin Dutton’s The Art of Manipulation, and Guzel Guzel Yakhina’s My Children. Alex Michaelides’s The Silent Patient was ranked seventh, followed by Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Janet G. Woititz’s Healthy Parenting, and Joe Dispenza’s Becoming Supernatural.
