The Times: Coronavirus fears as seasonal farm workers due to arrive from Romania

Dozens of Romanian seasonal workers will fly into Britain today, prompting concerns that some may have slipped out of the country’s “coronavirus red zone”, says The Times.

A charter flight of 180 workers is due to land at Stansted airport as part of a push by the farming industry to ease a chronic shortage of seasonal labour.

The flight, organised by Air Charter Service, will take off from Iasi airport, 90 miles from the city of Suceava, the centre of Romania’s Covid-19 outbreak. To date in Romania there have been 7,216 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 372 deaths. The UK has recorded 98,476 cases and 12,868 deaths.
