Dacia car registrations in Europe, up 12% in 2018

The number of Dacia cars registered in the EU increased by 12% last year to 519,088 units amid weak market, with the brand reaching a market share of 3.4% (up from 3.1% in 2017), according to the Romanian Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACAROM) and the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), according to Romania-Insider.com.

In December, 39,692 Dacia cars were registered in Europe, down 2.9% compared to the same month in 2017, but the decline was lower than that of the overall EU market (-8.4%).

In total, 15.2 million cars were registered in the EU last year, a thin 0.1% advance on 2017, since the demand declined in the last four months of the year. However, 2018 was the fifth consecutive year of growth.

The demand was mainly supported by the countries of Central Europe, where the volume of registrations increased by 8%. In Romania, 130,919 cars were registered, up 23%. The largest markets were Germany (3.4 million cars) and the UK (2.36 million cars).
