The Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF), the largest film festival in Romania, sold over 90,000 tickets at this year’s edition, 14% more than in 2016, the organizers announced, according to Romania-Insider.com.
The tickets covered the 225 films screened at the festival. Online ticket purchases for the event also went up, and 39% of the total tickets were sold over the internet.
The number of participants at events, including those attending the free, open-air screenings, workshops, launches, exhibitions and debates, reached 130,000. Over 1,200 Romanian and foreign guests were present in Cluj-Napoca, the western Romania city where the event takes place, throughout the ten days of the festival.
The screening of Alain Delon’s film For a Cop’s Hide, which took place in the presence of the French actor, set an audience record for one single screening, in the history of the festival, with 3,312 tickets sold. The actor received the Lifetime Achievement Award at this edition of TIFF.
