Banca Transilvania leads blue-chip gainers on Bucharest bourse, stock indices rise

bvbBanca Transilvania [BSE:TLV] led the gainers among the blue-chips on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) on Monday, bourse data showed. The total equity turnover of the BVB fell to 26 million lei ($6.1 million/5.7 million euro) from 49.8 million lei on Friday, says SeeNews.com.

Romanian lender Banca Transilvania [BSE:TLV] was the top blue-chip gainer, rising 2.52% to 2.64 lei in the day’s largest turnover of 7.67 million lei. The bank booked a net profit of 1.23 billion lei in 2016, as compared to a record-high 2.41 billion lei in 2015 following its merger with Volksbank.

Romanian gas pipeline operator Transgaz [BSE:TNG] fell 0.28% to 360 lei in the day’s second largest turnover of 4.42 million lei. The company said on Thursday its 2016 net profit rose 22% on the year to 595.7 million lei.

Blue-chip oil and gas group OMV Petrom [BSE:SNP] rose 0.35% to 0.2950 lei in the day’s third largest turnover of 3.79 million lei. The group posted a 1.038 billion lei net profit in 2016, recovering from a 690 million lei loss in the previous year.
