Romanian singer will represent Switzerland at 2017 Eurovision

Miruna Manescu is the lead singer of Timebelle, which won the Swiss national selection for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. The group will take their song Apollo to Kyiv, where the competition will take place this May.

“I won! I will represent Switzerland at Eurovision with my beloved band Timebelle. I’m very proud. I feel that my merits are finally recognized,” the Romanian artist wrote on her Facebook page.

The Swiss selection for the Eurovision Song Contest started in September, and six artists got to the event’s final, with Miruna Manescu and Timebelle emerging the big winners. They will participate in the second semifinal of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, on May 11.

Timebelle, consisting of lead vocalist Miruna Manescu, drummer Samuel Forster and multi-instrumentalist Emanuel Daniel Andriescu, was formed in the Swiss city of Bern. Both Miruna Manescu and Emanuel Daniel Andriescu have Romanian roots. The band previously took part in the Swiss national selection in 2015, with Singing About Love.
