Wizz Air introduces new flights from Cluj-Napoca airport

wizzairHungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air has announced a massive expansion of its operations from the Avram Iancu International Airport in Cluj-Napoca, in 2017, according to Romania-Insider.com.

The company will allot its sixth aircraft to this operational base and will introduce four new international routes from Cluj-Napoca, to Stockholm, Bratislava, Larnaca, and Malta.

The frequency of flights from Cluj-Napoca to several international destinations will also increase next year, according to Tamara Vallois, Wizz Air communications director. These destinations include London, Barcelona, Basel, Dortmund, and Bergamo.

The flights to Stockholm will be introduced from March 27 whereas the flights to Bratislava will start on March 10. Flights to Larnaca will begin on March 28 and those to Malta will be introduced on March 26.

Wizz Air carried over 1.2 million passengers to and from the Cluj-Napoca airport in the first eleven months of this year. It was the first low-cost carrier to launch flights from Cluj-Napoca to Romania’s capital Bucharest.
