Seven NATO states to send troops to Romania, Romanian troops go to Poland

natoAt least seven states will contribute with troops and equipment to the NATO army in Romania, while Romanian military will be sent to Poland, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced, according to Business-Review.eu.

“Today we also discussed progress in strengthening NATO’s presence in the Black Sea region. With a Romanian-led multinational framework brigade on land. And we are working on measures in the air and at sea. And I’m pleased to confirm that several nations indicated their willingness to contribute to our presence in the Black Sea region, on land, at sea, and in the air. Including Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Turkey and the United States. Other Allies are also looking into how they can contribute”, Jens Stoltenberg said following the meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of NATO Defence Ministers.

According to a statement by the UK Ministry of Defence, The UK will send Eurofighter Typhoon multirole fighter planes for patrolling missions on the south-eastern NATO flank in order to guarantee the security of allies in the Black Sea region. The planes will fly from the Coningsby military unit of the Royal British Army, to the Mihai Kogalniceanu airbase, in 2017.

And Romania and the United Kingdom will join the US-led battalion in Poland, Stoltenberg said.
